We were pleased to be invited back to work at the famous Ballybrit course following our earlier involvement on the Killanin Stand.
The brief was to create a new North Entrance Building to the rear of the grandstands and to enlarge the top floor of the Millennium Stand by moving the front wall forward and providing additional floor space with floor to ceiling glazing in the manner of the Killanin Stand.
The North Entrance Building was conceived as a portico that welcomes people into the racecourse enclosure and gives people a place to pause before crossing the threshold without appearing to be a substantive building that impedes access.
The project received planning permission in July 2012 and was completed in June 2013 as programmed, in time for the Galway Races Festival at the end of July.
