A director of EPR Architects Ltd until setting up Phelan Architects in June 2009, Brendan has over 20 years experience of working in London as a qualified architect across a broad range of building types.
At EPR Architects, Brendan was responsible for the Killanin Stand at Galway, the new Marriott Hotel at Lingfield Park, The Curragh Racecourse Project, Peruvian Wharf and Greenwich Millennium Village. Prior to joining EPR, Brendan spent over 10 years (1989 –2000) at Michael Hopkins and Partners and had been responsible for the Saga Headquarters in Folkestone, Preachers Court in Charterhouse Square, Goodwood Racecourse and the Norwich Forum building. Brendan also worked on Portcullis House in Westminster, on the Inland Revenue project in Nottingham and IBM at Bedfont Lakes.
Over the years he has tutored, mentored and lectured at numerous universities and is currently an RIBA Category 1 External Examiner for Part III students.
Anne Markey
In addition to being a co director of Phelan Architects, Anne also heads up ASD Projects within the Department of Architecture and Spatial Design at London Metropolitan University, and also has over 20 years experience as an architect.
Immediately prior to setting up ASD Projects, Anne worked for Studio Daniel Libeskind as the Executive Architect for the new Graduate Centre at London Metropolitan University and for Greenhill Jenner Architects as a Consultant on a new development for St. Joseph’s Hospice in East London.
From 1990 to 2002 Anne was a Director of Greenhill Jenner Architects during which period she was responsible for the design and delivery of a number of new build projects in the public sector including a Nursing Home for the Frail Elderly, a Community Mental Health Hospital, Science Laboratories and Library for Royal Latin School in Buckingham, a new Visitors’ Centre for HMP Holloway and St. Joseph’s Hospice in East London.
