Workplace

In his time at Michael Hopkins and Partners, Brendan was fortunate to have worked on a number of major workplace projects which tracked the changing workplace environment and helped promote greater energy efficiency and sustainability.

The first of these was Bedfont Lakes for IBM/MEPC, a series of 3 office buildings around a formal square. This recalled the formal garden squares created in 18th and 19th century London.

The Inland Revenue Offices at Nottingham broke the office requirement down into 6 office buildings and a separate Amenity Building housing restaurant, sports hall and nursery for the workers. The buildings were naturally ventilated and were amongst the first to achieve a Breeam Excellent rating.

The Saga Group Headquarters in Folkestone was a further development of the naturally ventilated offices and also incorporated a multi-purpose amenity building within an elevated parkland setting overlooking the sea.

Brendan was also involved in the construction of Portcullis House, primarily in relation to the stone and concrete structure of the building.
